AVIARIES

The source for this series revolves around a person’s sense of self being formed through the experiences of relationships, parenthood, station in life, geography and how each of these influences affect the other. The references are both geographical and autobiographical. The locations can be in the past, present or future.

I enjoy the challenge of personifying human issues through non-human forms. At the nucleus of each sculpture is an idea around which the piece grows. In a sense, the way a grain of sand stimulates the oyster enough that it creates a pearl.
